Default Gaylord Texan Accepting Reservations

The Gaylord Texan hotel is accepting room reservations. Reservations at the Gaylord Texan can be made by calling 866-782-7897 and referencing group code S-IDS09. Rooms are $129 plus $15 resort fee per night ($144). Availability is already limited with no rooms left for Thursday, Aug. 13. Rooms for Friday and Saturday nights are still available, but going fast.

Overflow Hotel Information

We've also secured additional rooms at a preferred rate at the Embassy Suites Hotel located less than 2 miles from the Gaylord. The special QuakeCon rate of $129/night includes single, double, triple, or quad occupancy, complimentary breakfast, and regularly scheduled shuttle service between the Embassy Suites and QuakeCon at the Gaylord Texan. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly at 972-724-2600 or Embassy Suites Brand Reservations at 1-800-EMBASSY, and referencing the group "ID Software-QuakeCon". Online reservations can use the group code "IDS" to receive the specially negotiated rates. Rooms are limited, so make your reservations now!

And QC comes through again...

Oh...and with the code it shows the 13th as good...but that may be a misread on the reservation system.

Good to hear about the Embassy! Can you tell us a little more about the scheduled shuttles--what are their hours of operation during the day and night? I'm asking because I'm curious to know if I could go to/from the hotels at any given time once my sleep schedule gets offset. Will there be less-frequent trips between certain hours, such as 5am-noon?

EDIT: also, "complimentary breakfast" is mentioned, but not similarly as "complimentary shuttle service". Will there be an additional cost?

The Embassy Suites is very nice, I stayed there in 2005. If I hadn't gotten a room at the Gaylord, I certainly wouldn't be complaining.

I'm certainly not complaining. I'd just like to hear some more details to help me make an informed decision if I need to cancel my Gaylord partial reservation. I already have two of three nights reserved at the Gaylord, but am on their "wait list" for the night of the 13th. I'm trying to determine if it's worth changing hotels entirely or hoping for some cancellations to free up a room for the 13th for me at the Gaylord for convenience. I'm arriving in Dallas on the 10th for volunteering and cannot afford $129/night hotel stay for the whole trip, so I'm already staying at a cheap motel for the first portion. I'm just trying to make it a smooth trip without 3 separate hotels I have to force my cousin to switch through, and minimize unexpected costs...if it was $2/person/direction for each shuttle ride, that's important since my cousin and I will have to leave to get food everyday and go sleep at some point, so I need to budget that in ahead of time if there will be a cost.

You could always call the hotel and ask ...

The guy reserving our rooms just got our Friday and Saturday nights booked at the Gaylord, but was informed by the Embassy Suites that they are all out of the QuakeCon rate rooms. They had rooms available for the regular $199/night. Just wanted to give an FYI.

I just got a hotel at the Hilton for $129 a night and told them a code.

But this blows, when is this shuttle service again? Most of us are doing late nights at QuakeCon will a shuttle be running then? I guess 2 miles isn't too far to go but ugh, how can they're not be enough rooms already at this massive resort?

Actually this does't look too bad, it looks like parking is free there? Hopefully there will still be some parking at the Gaylord as well if we don't want to take a shuttle. Also if I'm looking at the amenities right, am I seeing a couch? That's not bad for others. Any other cool amenities at the Embassy?

Default It's kind of anoying to me...

I checked back often, everyday like was posted on the web page and there was never an anouncement about making reservations. Thursday I took a chance and called the Gaylord and lo and be hold they were taking reservations. When I asked the reservation person about the rooms I was told that Thursday the 13th was all sold out. I asked when did Id and the hotel come to terms and release the rooms. The answer I got was that Id contacted the hotel on Tuesday and told them to accept reservations.

So three days before the official anouncement is made and the web page is updated the rooms are all ready sold out. Apparently there are some people (enough to sell out the hotel on Thursday) who made reservations with the information that was yet to be made available to the rest of who were waiting for the news to be posted.

Just plain anoying.
